Location - Mirehouse Play Area, Whitehaven
Date - April 2007
Planting - 500 Oak, Ash, Rowan, Goat Willow and Green Beech. This is a recent re-development of this area following the securing of funding from Cleaner Greener Safer Communities. The area is a large open grass space which has had new play equipment installed and three separate tree compounds made (to be fenced off). Local schools (Valley Primary and St Patrick's & St Gregory's RC School) will both be able to use these new compounds for wildlife studies once mature and during establishment. The green landscaping on site links into Copeland Borough Council policies of continuing to promote healthy living, exercise and the protection and expansion of habitats for wildlife to live and thrive.
