In December 2009 Tree Appeal will be launching TreeLink, our new online database.

All participating schools - our 'Schools on the Wildside' - will have access to a host of downloadble resources including lesson plans, classroom material and biodiversity information.

A key feature will be the ability for each school to enter their own data describing their local habitats and conditions.

Every October there will be a National Tree Measuring Week, at the end of the growing season, when schools will enter their tree data into the system and be able to compare tree development with schools throughout the country.

TreeLink is specifically designed to develop into a nationwide resource providing comparative data on tree growth and local ecosystems.

Cummins Inc. is the world's largest designer and manufacturer of diesel engines ranging from 55 to 3,500 horsepower. The key markets for these engines are on-highway vehicles, industrial equipment, and power generation. In addition, Cummins provides filtration and acoustic systems, natural gas engines, engine components and electronic systems.

In 2009 Cummins Limited celebrate their 90th anniversary with the planting of a 100 trees in a Darlington school. Because of their participation in the "Trees for Schools" initiative, Cummins have also sponsored the refurbishment and the shipping of a computer to a school in Africa. This will provide 100 African school children with a grounding in IT skills.

Cummins' sponsorship of Abbey Junior will enable the school to participate in the 'Schools on the Wildside' initiative which Tree Appeal is launching in December. The company is also extending its support to other Darlington schools, including another planting day at Firthmoor Primary in the near future.
