“Let me congratulate Tree Appeal for the valuable work it is doing to link communities in the Northeast of England and West Africa.
The Playground for Life initiative is valuable for three reasons. It will bring a welcome play and learning facility for the children of Anomabo in Ghana. The project to plant 500 fruit trees should provide a sustainable economic resource for the villagers, and the plans to turn the area around the playground into a nature reserve will demonstrate the natural heritage of Ghana.
The project is a tremendous way of marking the 200th Anniversary of the abolition of the slave trade and the 50th Anniversary of Ghana's independence.
I wish you every success."
