Blackleaf has decided to partner with Tree Appeal to contribute to the sustainability of our environment. By planting trees in local schools and nature reserves we hope not only to plant saplings and mitigate our carbon footprint but also to invest in their future by educating young people on the importance of conservation. Your purchases have helped contribute to our target of planting our first 100 trees this Autumn.
Our 100 trees were a combination of native broad leaf trees such as Spindle, Rowan and Whitebeam. They are ‘cell grown whips’ which establish very easily and are known to promote biodiversity. The majority of our trees, 75 to be exact, were planted at one of our local schools in Boston, Lincolnshire where the children will have the opportunity to learn about them and their importance and participate in the planting. They received 15 each of Crab Apple, Whitebeam, Rowan, Downy Birch and Guelder Rose.
The remaining 25 trees were planted at a Primary School in Ashby de la Zouch and included Hazel, Silver Birch and Wild Cherry.
