November 2022

On what seemed like the rainiest day of the year, Swarcliffe Primary School in Leeds hosted a fantastic planting day. We certainly didn't let the rain spoil our fun!

The school was visited by representatives of edding and their customer YPO to help plant trees in the school grounds. Children, staff and representatives of the companies planted the saplings to create wildlife habitats and encourage biodiversity.

“I'm Holly - I'm here on behalf of Edding UK who are sponsoring the planting of these trees today by donating 5p from the sale of every Ecoline marker. As you can see it's a little bit wet but we're having a great day so far!” - Holly McDermott, edding UK

The trees were all native British species, grown in the UK and included Green Beech, Silver Birch, Hazel, Alder and Rowan. These new saplings will provide a perfect habitat for wildlife, promoting biodiversity and preserving the natural environment. The children gained hands-on experience of how trees are planted and learned how important trees are to the world in which we live.

edding has teamed up with Tree Appeal, planting native broadleaf trees in schools supported by their new EcoLine marker range.

edding has sponsored the planting of more than 250 trees at Swarcliffe Primary, demonstrating their commitment to environmental education and their aim of reducing their impact on the natural world.

“I'm the Forest School Lead at Swarcliffe Primary School. We are setting up Forest School for the first time and thought it would be a good idea to plant loads of trees, teach the children about the different types of tree, what they can be used for, how they help the environment and create lots of habitat... The kids have enjoyed it. It's been rainy and wet but they've had a great time and it's been fantastic!” - Miss Plews - Forest School Lead, Swarcliffe Primary
